The elegance of a new world
In a world facing unprecedented climate, social, and ethical emergencies, luxury might have seemed disconnected, frozen in a world of privilege. Yet, a silent revolution is underway. More and more prestigious brands are reinterpreting their role with heightened awareness, blending tradition and transformation.
What if, today, elegance consisted not only of dressing well or consuming well, but also of doing one’s part — with fairness, respect and vision?
At Colibrie, we believe that excellence has never been incompatible with ethics. On the contrary: it is when luxury becomes responsible that it reveals its full symbolic power.
Responsible luxury: From a trend to a transformation
Just a few years ago, talking about sustainable luxury seemed contradictory. Luxury embodied the rare, the precious, the exclusive — while sustainability was associated with sobriety, constraint, or even renunciation.
But expectations have changed. According to a study by Bain & Company, more than 60% of luxury consumers under 35 now consider ethics and transparency essential in their choices. These generations want meaning, without sacrificing beauty or quality. They no longer simply want to own, but to be part of.
Faced with this evolution, some companies are no longer content with simply adding a green touch to their image: they are fundamentally rethinking their value chain, their processes, their commitments.
The result? The sector is evolving: natural regenerative materials, ethical production chains, eco-responsible innovation… Change is underway.
Luxury brands that are doing their part
Stella McCartney
A pioneer of ethical luxury, Stella McCartney has always refused to use leather and fur in her collections. In 2021, she presented a dress made from mycelium (fungus), paving the way for luxurious and 100% vegan fashion.
“Sustainability should not be an option. It must be integrated into every stage of the creative process.”
Colibrie
Chloé
By becoming the first luxury brand to obtain B Corp certification in 2021, Chloé set a pioneering example. This involves a rigorous assessment of its environmental, social, and societal impact. Since then, the brand has placed commitment at the heart of its collections, collaborating with local NGOs and favoring regenerative materials.
Cartier (Richemont Group)
With its Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030, Cartier is committed to reducing its CO₂ emissions, improving the traceability of its raw materials, and promoting fair working conditions. The jewelry industry, long shrouded in secrecy, is gradually embracing a new transparency.
Kering (Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga…)
For several years, the Kering group has been measuring the environmental impact of all its brands through an internal assessment tool. Gucci banned fur in 2018 and is investing in blockchain traceability of its materials.
And also: LVMH, Hermès… everyone is playing their part in this transformation.
Engagement with elegance: Between values, image and strategy
Behind these approaches, a profound conviction emerges: Luxury has a cultural and symbolic role to play. It shapes imaginations, it inspires, it influences.
But how can we remain true to aesthetic standards while integrating ethical criteria? This implies innovation, questioning long-standing, sometimes centuries-old, practices. It also requires communicating differently: with sincerity, but without shattering the dream.
Ethical luxury does not seek to moralize, but to open new paths. It affirms that one can choose a bag or a watch not only for its refinement, but also for the values it embodies.
Colibrie: Linking commitment, beauty, and high standards
Colibrie is part of this dynamic.
We are not simply a showcase for products or a trendsetting media outlet. We are curators of conscience, intermediaries between committed luxury brands and audiences who want to make informed choices.
Our mission: To promote brands that place beauty, ethics and responsibility on the same level of importance.
Our promise: To inspire without making people feel guilty, to inform without looking away, to enhance without betraying the essence of luxury.
We select, analyze and tell the stories of the houses that are redefining the codes of luxury with aesthetic rigor AND sincere awareness.
"It's no longer a question of choosing between beauty and goodness: true luxury lies in uniting the two."
